Javier Sartorius Milans del Bosch came from Madrid’s aristocracy. Young, handsome, and full of charisma, he had a promising future as a tennis player. But despite his outward success while living in the U.S., he began to feel a deep existential emptiness. Seeking answers, he gave it all up to embark on a path with no return—searching for the ultimate meaning of life.
Who Was Javier?
Javier Sartorius seemed to have the life many dream of. A bright and charismatic young man, he was a rising star in Spanish tennis, a national paddle tennis champion in the United States, and a Business Administration graduate. Everything pointed toward a future of success.
Yet deep within his heart, he sensed that none of it could satisfy his longing for something more.
Deeply moved by the reality of the homeless in Los Angeles, Javier made a decision that surprised everyone who knew him: he left behind a life of comfort and recognition to become a missionary in Cusco, Peru.
That was the beginning of an unexpected journey that would lead him, through poverty, silence, and prayer, to the greatest treasure he had been searching for all his life: God.
